Joshua Creek is a quiet and peaceful residential neighborhood located on the east side of Oakville. Newer than most of the other neighborhoods in Oakville, Joshua Creek has become well known for its large luxury houses, amazing access to transportation, and wonderful selection of schools. Where is Joshua Creek?
Joshua Creek is located on the east side of Oakville. The neighborhood sits between Eighth Line and Ninth Line with Dundas Street East acting as the northern boundary and Upper Middle Road East acting as the southern boundary.
Getting around Joshua Creek
Joshua Creek has access to a plethora of great transportation options. The neighborhood is located just a few minutes away from Highways 407 and 403, and the Queen Elizabeth Way, which can connect motorists to Mississauga, Etobicoke, and Toronto's downtown core. Joshua Creek area also has wonderful public transportation options with several Oakville Transit bus routes servicing the area.
The types of homes in Joshua Creek
The Joshua Creek community was built up in two phases. The first phase was completed in the mid-1990s. This first batch of houses was situated mainly in the south end of Joshua Creek closer to Upper Middle Road. The second phase was built in the mid-2000s and was focused on the north end of Joshua Creek closer to Dundas Street East. Most of the homes in Joshua Creek are two-storey detached and semi-detached houses that range between 2500-3500 square feet. However, it's not unheard of to find homes larger than 4000 square feet.
Since most of these homes are relatively new, they feature contemporary floor plans. Many of these homes have two-storey entryways, spiraling staircases, and large kitchens. Almost every house in the neighborhood features a solid brick exterior with stone detailing.
Many homes in the later phases of Joshua Creek are more contemporary with luxury finishes. Several homes from the earlier phases are being renovated and upgraded. The larger homes on premium and ravine lots are some of the most sought-after properties in Oakville.
The Emporium Condos is a complex of low-rise condominiums and townhomes located in the north end of Joshua Creek on Prince Michael Drive. This adds some diversity to the housing option in Joshua Creek making it a desirable location for homeowners and renters alike.
Making the move to Joshua Creek

Parks and recreation in Joshua Creek
Joshua Creek has access to a large amount of parkland and numerous scenic walking trails. The Parkway is a large park located on the east side of the neighborhood. The Parkway is home to the Joshua Creek Trail, which is a walking trail that covers the entire length of the neighborhood. Just south of Joshua Creek is Iroquois Shoreline Woods Park, a heavily wooded area that has a series of majestic walking and hiking paths.
Glenashton Park sits in the heart of Joshua Creek on the corner of Glenashton Drive and Eighth Line. The park has several amenities including two baseball diamonds, two soccer fields, a cricket pitch, three well-maintained tennis courts, a children's playground, a dog park, and a skatepark with obstacles for skaters of every skill level. Glenashton Park is also home to the Iroquois Ridge Community Centre. The Community Centre has a 25-meter competitive swimming pool, an additional leisure pool with a water slide, a fitness center, and is the location of the Iroquois Ridge branch of the Oakville Public Library.
Just north of Joshua Creek on the Ninth Line is the Ninth Line Sports Park. This sports complex includes two full-sized baseball diamonds equipped with floodlights for night games, along with five pristine tennis courts that belong to the Tennis School. Just a few minutes south of the Ninth Line Sports Complex is one of the more unique features of Joshua Creek, a drive-in movie theatre called the 5- Drive In. The drive-in has three screens showing the latest movies as well as a few classics, plus a children's play area, and a snack bar.
The best schools in Joshua Creek
One of the main reasons why Joshua Creek has become such a popular neighborhood for young families is the amazing selection of schools in the area. The Halton District School Board and the Halton Catholic District School Board both operate several schools in the Joshua Creek neighborhood. The main secondary school in Joshua Creek is Iroquois Ridge High School on Glenashton Drive. Iroquois Ridge received extremely high marks on the Fraser Institute's Annual Report Card for 2020 and was ranked as the tenth best secondary school in all of Ontario out of nearly 800 other schools.
Joshua Creek also has a wonderful selection of elementary and middle schools. Joshua Creek Public School located on Arrowhead Road is the highest-rated elementary school in the area and was ranked as one of the top 100 elementary schools in Ontario by the Fraser Institute. Joshua Creek has a tremendous selection of dining options offering a wide range of cuisines from all over the world. The go-to brunch spot in Joshua Creek is Sunny Morning on Joshua Creek Drive, which serves delicious breakfast staples like oatmeal, eggs, bacon, waffles, and pancakes.
The Upper Oakville Shopping Centre on the corner of Upper Middle Road East and Eighth Line is home to many of Joshua Creek's best restaurants. The Oakville Pump and Patio is a bar and grill, which serves bar fare like wings, Jalapeños Poppers, and poutine along with more elevated dishes like gourmet Napolitano pizza, steak ribeye, and salmon. Right next to the Pump and Patio is Thai Siam Thai Cuisine, which offers classic Thai curries, stir-fries, and noodle dishes served in an elegant space.
